This week at school is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our school always does it up big, and I agree it should be done that way. Teacher's today do not get enough pay, let's face it, some should get hazard pay, right? We really need to show them that they ARE appreciated!
I am the Homeroom Mom in both of the boys' classes. Which means I am in charge of basically getting 44 other parents to support two teachers for one week.
Our school has us come up with different themes each day to follow and have the kids bring in something daily. Well, as luck would have it, this year Griffey has a male teacher, and Reese has a female teacher. Can't really do the same theme can I? LOL
So I have all kinds of things I have to do this week. Like tomorrow for Reese's teacher is "flower day", each child is to bring in a flower, or a bouquet, whatever and I am going to be in there with a vase and be ready to make an instant bouquet...so why do I feel like some kids will not bring in jack? Pray that she has more the the flower Reese brings in! And in Griffey's class, I've made it gift card day, I have a little sports tin I got at Target for $1, and bought that stuff you make arrangements out of, and going to get some flower picks and make a gift card arrangement for him. The parents were supposed to send in the gift cards last week...I've gotten four out of twenty two...see what I'm dealing with?
I guess ANY appreciation is better than none tho, right?

I thank you, more for the comments than an actual present. This time of year too! Boy, oh...... That's neat to get everybody to bring in one flower to make a bouquet. How pretty!
Do they not do Teacher Appreciation week up there?
We do not have the best PTA thing going. So, no, nothing special for us this week.
ARGH that makes me sooo mad! I swear, I've talked to other people that do not do anything either. Lacy's school didn't really organize anything either, I told Anne to pick up flowers, bring in lunch, she is baking cookies, but the homeroom Mom's at our school have to organize the entire week for their class. We do something DAILY for our teachers. Mon & Fri PFA is supplying lunch, Wed they are supplying breakfast, all we have to do is get some parent to bring in lunch on Tuesday & Thursday for our teacher.
How did the flowers go? I'm curious...
I think my friend Ann is the homeroom mom in Ben's class...I wonder if it's Teacher Appreciation at our school this week? I haven't heard a thing...how sad is that???? Although, it's special ed so there are a few teacher's we would have to appreciate. But they do earn it. hehe
In the past our school has always just done it whenever, but this year, I believe it IS the regular time, like other schools around here are celebrating it like we do, although from the people I know that do go to other schools, they do not go at it like we do, LOL
